Steps To A Powerful, Useful Reciprocal Links Directory by: Charles
Kangethe
The Problem
No matter how good your product or
service is, if you are not receiving targeted visitors to your site or
if your web site is not well ranked by the Search engines you will not
sell much.
A solid, reciprocal linking strategy,
properly executed will deliver both targeted visitors and improve your
web site rank for your chosen keywords and all for "no money down."
Step #1 - Specific Keyword Search
It is important that your chosen
keyword phrases are as specific as possible.
Scott Buresh of http://www.mediumblue.com/
says this about keywords and using "geographic", "adjective" and "noun"
modifiers to make them specific.
"Modifiers are used for two main
reasons: to increase the percentage of ideal prospects in the traffic the
phrase attracts, and to find terms that are easier to target on search
engines. Adding the right type of modifiers to your search engine key phrases
will increase your chances of success."
This step involves effort and a capacity
to brainstorm because you need a minimum of 100 keyword phrases for good
results. Good search engine optimisers build lists of 300 specific or more
keyword phrases.
The following resources will be of
use as you build your keyword phrase list
* Overture Suggestion Tool - http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/
* Good Keywords by Softnik Technologies
- http://www.goodkeywords.com
* Use a search engine to research
"Keyword Phrases" and learn more practical details on this critical task.
Step #2 - Suitable Link Partners
Your ideal link partners are web
sites based on
* High quality content - Ideally
the material (articles, reviews, reports, e-books etc) should be original,
fresh and informative to visitors.
* Tight web site themes - The content
addresses a specific business, product or service type.
* Tight directory themes - A link
to the link directory should be prominently shown on main pages and the
directory must be tightly themed and not just a "link farm" of general,
non-related web sites.
* Complimentary themes - While you
may not want direct competitors to feature in your directory, complimentary
sites that fulfil the above features will provide great value to your visitors.
Step # 3 - Find and Review Link Partners
Now, find web sites who may be "good"
link partners.
Using a search engine or directory,
go through each keyword phrase in your list and visit as many of the web
sites that are returned as you can.
Evaluate each site on the basis of
the criteria set in step #2.
Decide on the categories you want
in your directory.
For an Internet marketing business
these would typically be "Affiliate Programs", "Business Promotion", "Income
Opportunities" an so on.
Qualifying web sites, may of course
fall into more than one category depending on their business, product or
service offerings.
With this information you can now
make another list of :
* Qualifying web sites for inclusion.
* Relevant e-mail address to which link requests must be addressed.
* Web site URL and a short description
of the web site and what it offers.
* Make a note of "special" features
on the web site which you can usefully put in your e-mail to *prove* you
have actually visited the site. This goes a long way to countering SPAM
problems.
Step # 4 - Build Your Partner Link
Directory.
Build your Partner Link's directory
using a separate HTML page for each distinct category.
Add the URL link and comment for
each qualified site into the relevant category page(s).
Make your directory pleasurable to
visit, where visitors find information quickly and easily.
Ensure ithe directory is easily found
and reached from your main web pages.
Step 5 - e-Mail The Webmaster
Using the e-mail addresses, write
to each Webmaster you have linked to.
Tell them :
* The URL address of the page where
their link can be found
* Your own web site link information
(URL and descriptive comments)
Finish by asking for a reciprocal
link in their directory.
Make the e-mail personal and you
might like to use the *special* feature note you made to help your request
achieve success.
Step #6 - Maintain Your Directory
A partner directory is a work in
constant progress.
It must change quickly to reflect
obsolete, dead, new, and modified links and web sites.
This maintains it's usefulness to
your visitors.
Depending on size, verifying the
links may be more than you can achieve easily by your own efforts. Offer
prizes to visitors who find and inform you of links that are no longer
useful.
Maintenance also means giving added
prominence to entries for other webmasters who respond to your mail and
tell you that they have added your link and web site information to their
own directories.
You can add a small graphic next
to each Partner link making it stand out from the other web sites that
have not provided a reciprocal links.
Remember your directory exists to
provide useful content to your visitors. Do not immediately remove a non
reciprocating web site, if it adds value to your visitors.
Step #7 - Repeat
Go through the six steps above regularly
and over a period of 3 to 6 months you should notice a significant and
sustained rise in targeted traffic from complimentary sites as well as
a rise in search engine rankings for your specific keyword phrases.
Conclusion
Building a useful, tightly themed,
Partner Link directory is a "No cost" traffic and ranking builder.
Will you devote 15 minutes to this
today, and into the future ?

How
to get non Reciprocal Links by: Matt Colyer
In this article we will look at how
to get non reciprocal links.
Webmasters have become paranoid with
link popularity therefor making it the most popular SEO techniques that
is used on the web today. Why should you be worried about link popularity?
Because it is one of the most important things that search engines use
to rank web sites. Search engines have begun to see a problem with this
because webmasters are trading links left and right. So now they put less
importance on reciprocal links. Below you will see how easy it is to get
non reciprocal.
1) You should get your site listed
in both Yahoo! and the DMOZ because it can boost the rank of a site much
more than a few links from an other site. It can be hard to get listed
in both Yahoo! and the DMOZ because they only accept sites that offer original
content and sites that are believed to be useful to Internet surfers. To
get in Yahoo! it may cost you from free to 299 dollars, it depends on what
category the site belongs to. The DMOZ is free matter what category your
site belongs to.
2) Write articles to be published
on other sites, like this article here you are reading. Use your expertise
to write useful articles in your subject/market to be published. You can
submit to Yahoo! Groups and articlecity.com.
The sites that include your article will also include a resource box with
a link back to your site.
3) Get your site listed in directories
that are related to your site's market. This is very useful at not only
boasting your ranking in the search engines, but getting you targeted traffic.
If you own a site that's about games search with game resources or game
directory. Let's say your site is about dogs search with animal links or
dog directory. You can also try...
Add site + your keyword/market
Add URL + your keyword/market
Submit URL + your keyword/market
Suggest URL + your keyword/market
Your Region + Add url/market
your keywords + "directory/market
4) Create a great content site, if
your site has great content or something that no one else offers you will
find over time people will link to you because they feel that you have
great content or service(s). It takes a lot of time to get links from other
web sites this way, but it is well worth the time. You should write artless
that are related to your site's market, if you are not that great at writing
articles or not sure where to start have a look at articlecity.com
to get articles that you can publish on your site.
5) Put your signature at the end
of each of your posts at forums. Join forums that are related to your site's
market and post about subjects that you know about with your signature
at the end of the message. Some forums allow this, but not all do allow
this, so you should make sure it's allowed by checking the web site's rules
or the term of services that you have to agree to. Also don't go around
spamming the forums with your links because this WILL make you hated more
than you are liked and will make visitors not trust your site.

Simple Ideas On Link Exchange
That Could Mean Millions For Your Online Business by: Anti
Spam League
There is no other alternative to
initiating a link exchange process in order to garner maximum mileage for
your web site. There are plenty of benefits you can reap out of an effective
link exchange program. It is applicable to any company who spends money
on online advertising in any industry.
Link popularity is the ultimate parameter
in achieving supreme exposure on the web for your web site. Link popularity
is measured by the number and quality of the inbound links to your site.
Inbound links help to attain high search engine rankings for your web site,
while producing an invaluable traffic stream from visitors clicking through
on the links themselves. But your goal will remain unrealized unless you
implement an intelligent link exchange strategy.
At the same time you should not go
overboard in the quest of getting more and more links. Quality should not
be sacrificed at the cost of quantity. You should utilize your link exchange
process so that it can win high quality links (which are links from websites
that are complementary to your business and have high page ranks) for your
web site, not abundant unproductive links.
Considering inbound links to your
web site are a decisive factor for improved search engine ranking, you
have to make sure that your incoming links are of similar theme. The companies
that you link to should offer a product or service that is complementary
to yours, however not in competition. Irrelevant links will not fulfil
your objective.
Increased and Targeted Traffic
Effective link exchange can attract
larger, quality and targeted traffic to your web site. The link exchange
process helps you establish innumerable fruitful partners with other relevant
web sites. Thus, you can win more quality and targeted visitors from your
link partners. According to a June 2003 Forrester Research survey report,
'59% of Internet consumers find web sites through links from another site'.
Enhanced Visibility
Targeted traffic and supreme search
engine positioning strengthen the visibility of your web site. An efficient
link exchange process can create awareness among web visitors about your
web site. A strong web presence is the key for survival on the internet,
especially when the cost and competition on popular pay per click platforms
such as Google Adwords and Overture are continuously rising, and only represent
a fraction of potential customers.
The more you increase the link popularity
of your web site, the prospect of staying at higher search engine position
for a longer period of time becomes more likely. Your web site will be
listed in the search engine results if a keyword or phrase related to your
web site theme is submitted.
Cost-effective Promotion
If you want to promote your web site
on a limited budget, link exchange is the best option. Link exchange can
save a lot of money that you otherwise would have spent on other means
of on and offline advertising.
Link exchange is a very effective
and inexpensive approach of gaining popularity and prosperity on the web.
It represents an incremental step in the formation of a lasting web presence
for your business, allowing you to build an infrastructure to generate
ongoing traffic at a low cost. As more of your competitors enter the market
on the internet increasing the cost for ad space, this process becomes
an increasingly important part of the business model for acquiring customers
over the internet.
Responsible Marketing
In today’s ultra competitive world
of online marketing, it is increasing harder to reach your target audience
at a relative low cost, while staying within the guidelines of the present
laws. This is why organizations such as the Anti Spam League promote responsible
ways of marketing like link exchange. The Anti Spam League has been created
to fight abuse on the internet, but also to educate website owners on the
responsible aspects of online marketing. To learn more visit www.Anti-Spam-League.org.
